Education data and crct scores

Neighborhood Nexus collects a host of data from the Georgia Department of Education, only some of which is available for download now. We have school-level CRCT scores for grades 1st - 8th, for both math and reading. In addition, we have educational attainment data from the 2005-2009 American Community Survey. Soon we will be getting more data from GA DOE as we recently signed a data-sharing agreement that gives us access to student-level records (these individual records will then be aggregated up to a census tract level). These data answer the following questions:

  • Where are the best-performing schools?
  • Is there a relationship between test scores and school location?
  • Where are the largest conentrations of those with a college education?

CRCT scores School As of now, we only have CRCT scores by school. Soon, we will have student-level achievement data for census tracts, superdisticts and counties. Yes Yes

We have pre-formatted profiles of each county and superdistrict in the region for 2010 Census and 2005-2009 American Community Survey data.

We do not report out the Educational Attainment data at the census tract because the American Community Survey - where the data come from - is a sample survey, and often the margins of error are so large that the estimate is essentially meaningless.
